Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix well with your hands.
  3. Form mixture into small meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
  4. In a large oven-safe skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Transfer skillet to preheated oven and cook meatballs for an additional 10-12 minutes or until cooked through. Remove skillet from oven and set aside.
  6. In a separate saucepan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium-high heat. Whisk in flour to make a roux. Slowly pour in beef broth, whisking constantly.
  7. Add heavy cream and continue whisking until sauce has thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Pour sauce over meatballs in skillet and serve immediately.
