Lamb Tikka Masala Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of lamb, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, half of the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, half of the spices (cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garam masala, salt, and cayenne pepper). Add lamb pieces and stir well. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours (or overnight) to marinate.
  2. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Thread the lamb pieces onto skewers and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the lamb is cooked through.
  3. In a large pan, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat. Add the remaining chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the remaining spices and cook for 1 minute. Add the cooked lamb pieces and stir well to coat with the spice mixture.
  5. Pour in 1/4 cup of water (or more) to thin the sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Add heavy cream and stir well.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan bread or rice.
