One Pot Pasta – Bolognese

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups dry pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the dry pasta and stir to combine everything. Pour in the water and bring the mixture back to a simmer.
  5. Lower the heat to medium and let the pasta cook for 12-15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked to your liking and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.

Verdict:

This one pot pasta bolognese recipe is a quick and easy dinner that’s perfect for busy weeknights. The bolognese sauce is flavorful and hearty, and cooking the pasta in the same pot saves both time and cleanup. Top with Parmesan cheese for a delicious finish.
