Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, thyme, basil, oregano, cinnamon, nutmeg, tomato paste, beef broth, and red wine. Mix well.
  3. Add eggs, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Mix until fluffy.
  4. Dip fingers into a bowl of water to moisten them. Grab a baseball-size portion of the mixture and roll it into a cylinder, about 2 inches long and 1 inch in diameter. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add the rioles and cook until browned on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Arrange browned rioles on a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes, or until cooked through.
  7. Remove from oven, let cool, and serve.
