Sukiyaki Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef (sirloin or ribeye)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup sake
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bunch scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms (shiitake or button)
- 1 block firm tofu, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 pound udon noodles, cooked according to package directions
- 2 cups spinach, chopped
- 4 eggs, beaten
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
- Add the beef and cook until browned.
- Add the onion and scallions and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms and tofu, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture over the ingredients and stir.
- Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Push the ingredients to one side of the skillet and add the beaten eggs to the other side.
- Cook the eggs until set, and then mix them in with the rest of the ingredients.
- Add the cooked udon noodles and spinach, and stir everything together.
- Simmer for another 2-3 minutes, then serve hot.
