Desert Rose Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, powdered sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter until fluffy. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the rose water.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Knead the dough just until it comes together, then roll it out to 1/4 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the cookies into desired shapes.
  6. Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges just start to brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Verdict:

These delicate, buttery cookies have a subtle floral flavor that’s perfect for a tea party or a special occasion. They’re beautiful to look at and even more delicious to eat!
