Endives with Ham Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 endives
- 6 thin slices of cooked ham
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and dry the endives, then cut off the harsh bottom part. Boil them in salted water for 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain them and let cool a bit.
- Wrap each endive with a slice of ham.
- In a saucepan melt the butter, add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Gradually pour in the milk and whisk until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.
- Place the endives with ham in a baking dish and drizzle the sauce over them.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden-brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
