Fennel Au Gratin Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 large fennel bulbs, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Remove the stems and fronds from the fennel bulbs, then thinly slice them crosswise.
  3. Place the sliced fennel in a large bowl and add the olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well until the fennel is coated.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs and heavy cream.
  5. In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, layer the fennel slices in an even layer. Pour the cheese and cream mixture over the fennel.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
