Homemade Ravioli Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and crack in the eggs. Add olive oil and mix everything together with a fork until it forms a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, black pepper, and garlic powder to make the filling.
- Divide the dough into halves, roll each half thinly on a floured surface. Using a ravioli cutter or a sharp knife, cut them into squares.
- On one square, place a teaspoon of the cheese mixture in the center, and cover with another square of pasta. Press the edges together with your fingers to seal the ravioli.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook the ravioli for 2-3 minutes or until they start to float. Remove with a slotted spoon and strain the excess water.
- Plate the ravioli and add your favorite sauce on top. Serve hot.
Verdict:
Making fresh, homemade ravioli may take some time and effort, but it is so worth it. The texture and flavor are incomparable to the store-bought ones. You can customize the filling to your liking and impress your dinner guests. It’s also a fun activity to do with family or friends.
Serving Suggestions:
You can serve the ravioli with any sauce of your choice, such as Marinara, Alfredo, or Pesto. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped herbs for added flavor. A side salad or garlic bread would also complement the dish well.
