Ham and cheese-filled veal rolls

Ham and Cheese-Filled Veal Rolls Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 thinly sliced veal cutlets
  • 8 thin slices of ham
  • 8 thin slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions:

  1. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each veal cutlet. Roll up tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the veal rolls in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add veal rolls and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove veal rolls from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add butter to the skillet and melt. Add dry white wine to the skillet and stir, scraping up any browned bits. Cook until the wine has reduced by half, about 2 minutes.
  5. Add chicken broth and thyme to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Return veal rolls to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until veal rolls are cooked through.
  7. Remove toothpicks from veal rolls and serve hot with the sauce.

These ham and cheese-filled veal rolls are a delicious and elegant dish that is perfect for a special occasion or a fancy dinner party. The tender veal pairs perfectly with the salty ham and creamy Swiss cheese, while the flavorful sauce adds the perfect finishing touch.
