Ham and Cheese-Filled Veal Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 thinly sliced veal cutlets
- 8 thin slices of ham
- 8 thin slices of Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
Instructions:
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each veal cutlet. Roll up tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the veal rolls in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add veal rolls and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove veal rolls from skillet and set aside.
- Add butter to the skillet and melt. Add dry white wine to the skillet and stir, scraping up any browned bits. Cook until the wine has reduced by half, about 2 minutes.
- Add chicken broth and thyme to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Return veal rolls to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until veal rolls are cooked through.
- Remove toothpicks from veal rolls and serve hot with the sauce.
