Homemade pasta (sheets and shapes)

Homemade Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add eggs.
  2. Using a fork, gradually mix the eggs into the flour mixture until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into four pieces and shape each piece into a rough rectangle.
  5. Roll each piece of dough through a pasta machine, starting with the widest setting and gradually moving to a thinner setting. Dust with flour if the dough begins to stick.
  6. If you don’t have a pasta machine, roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is thin and smooth. Cut into desired shapes with a knife or pasta cutter.
  7. Hang the pasta on a drying rack or lay it out on a towel to dry for 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking.

Serving Suggestions:

Homemade pasta can be served with a variety of sauces, such as tomato sauce, pesto, or alfredo sauce. It also pairs well with grilled vegetables or meats. Try it in a classic lasagna recipe for a crowd-pleasing dish.

Verdict:

Making your own pasta may take a little extra time and effort, but the result is a delicious, tender pasta that is superior to store-bought varieties.
