Menthol balls recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 10-12 drops of pure peppermint essential oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • A drop or two of green food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Attach a candy thermometer to the pan and cook until the temperature reaches 250 degrees F, without stirring.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and add peppermint oil and food coloring. Stir well.
  5. Let the mixture cool for 5-10 minutes, or until it’s cool enough to handle.
  6. Dust your hands with powdered sugar and shape the mixture into small balls, about 1/2 inch in diameter.
  7. Place the menthol balls on the prepared baking sheet and let them cool for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Store the menthol balls in an airtight container at room temperature.
