Red Wine Fondue Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 1/2 cups dry red wine
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 pound Gruyere cheese, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic clove.
- Heat the red wine in a saucepan over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in a tablespoon of cold water.
- Add the grated Gruyere cheese to the pot, stirring constantly until it is fully melted.
- Mix in the cornstarch mixture and continue to stir until the cheese mixture thickens.
- Add nutmeg and salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the fondue to the prepared fondue pot over low heat.
- Keep the pot over low heat while serving, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the red wine fondue with cubes of bread, fruits, and veggies like apple slices, celery sticks, and carrot sticks. Enjoy the warm, cheesy, and flavorful fondue with your loved ones.
