Shortcrust Pastry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250g plain flour
  • 125g unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2-4 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the diced butter and rub into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the egg yolk and 2 tbsp of cold water and mix together with a cutlery knife.

  6. Wrap the pastry in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before using.
