Star Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Star-shaped cookie cutters

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
  3. Add the egg and pure vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. In another mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  5. Sift the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough into two portions and form each into a disc. Wrap each disc in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, roll out one portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about ¼ inch. Use the star-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Repeat the process with the remaining portion of the dough until all of the cookies are baked.
