Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pound mascarpone cheese
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1/4 cup coffee liquor
- 1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add milk to the egg mixture and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Be careful not to let it boil.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool.
- In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add the cooled egg mixture to the mascarpone cheese, mixing well after each addition.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
- In a small bowl, mix the coffee liquor and brewed espresso or coffee.
- Dip the ladyfingers one by one into the coffee mixture and lay them on the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture on top of the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and spread the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve chilled and cut into squares. Garnish with fresh berries or a sprig of mint. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or espresso.
