Tonus Soup – Treat Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 chicken breast, cooked and shredded
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 large potato, peeled and diced
- 2 carrots, peeled and diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 cup frozen green peas
Directions:
- In a large saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and carrots and sauté until the onions are translucent and the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes, until it begins to brown.
- Add the chicken broth to the pot and stir until the mixture thickens and begins to boil.
- Add the potato, shredded chicken, salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary to the soup. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the potato is tender.
- Stir in the frozen peas and simmer for another 5-10 minutes or until they are cooked through.
- Pour the milk into the pot, and stir until heated through. Taste the soup and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot.
