Apple Cinnamon Crumble Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in the vanilla extract.
- Stir the dry mixture into the large mixing bowl, in 3 additions, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry mixture.
- Fold in the diced apples to the mixture with a spatula. Pour this batter into the prepared baking dish and set aside.
- For the crumble topping, mix together the flour, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon until well combined and crumbly. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
