Apple Crisp with Orange and Cointreau Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced into thin wedges
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons Cointreau
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, toss together the apple wedges, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, orange zest, orange juice, and Cointreau. Pour the apple mixture into a 9-inch square baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, and salt. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the oats. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving.
