Apple Fritters Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped apples (about 2 medium sized apples)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract together.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. In a large skillet, heat enough vegetable oil to come up about 1 inch on medium-high heat.
  6. Once the oil is heated, use a spoon to drop dollops of batter into the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet.
  7. Cook each fritter for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
