Apple-Pear and Vacherin Turnover – Régal Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 1 pear, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Vacherin cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the diced apple, diced pear, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into 4 equal squares.
  4. Divide the apple-pear mixture between the 4 squares, placing it in the center of each square.
  5. Top each square with shredded Vacherin cheese.
  6. Brush the edges of the squares with beaten egg.
  7. Bring the corners of each square together and seal by pressing with your fingers.
  8. Brush the tops of each turnover with beaten egg.
  9. Place turnovers on a baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve warm or at room temperature as a delicious treat that combines the sweetness of the fruit with the creamy cheese flavors. These turnovers can also be served as a dessert accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
