Apple-Pear and Vacherin Turnover – Régal Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 apple, peeled and diced
- 1 pear, peeled and diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup Vacherin cheese, shredded
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the diced apple, diced pear, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Divide the apple-pear mixture between the 4 squares, placing it in the center of each square.
- Top each square with shredded Vacherin cheese.
- Brush the edges of the squares with beaten egg.
- Bring the corners of each square together and seal by pressing with your fingers.
- Brush the tops of each turnover with beaten egg.
- Place turnovers on a baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve warm or at room temperature as a delicious treat that combines the sweetness of the fruit with the creamy cheese flavors. These turnovers can also be served as a dessert accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
