Apple Strudel Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 6 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith apples (peeled and cored)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Set aside.
  3. Peel and core the apples. Cut them into thin slices and place them in a large bowl.
  4. Add granulated sugar, breadcrumbs, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the bowl of sliced apples. Mix well using a spoon or spatula.
  5. Place a sheet of phyllo dough on a clean work surface. Brush it liberally with melted butter.
  6. Place another sheet of phyllo dough on top of the first sheet and brush it with butter as well. Repeat this process until you have used 6 sheets of phyllo dough.
  7. Spoon the apple mixture along one of the longest edges of the phyllo dough, leaving about 2 inches of space on each side.
  8. Using the edges of the phyllo dough, carefully roll the strudel up like a jelly roll. Place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the top and sides of the strudel with melted butter.
  10. Bake the strudel for 35-40 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.
  11. Remove the strudel from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
