Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup currants
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup chopped candied orange peel
  • 1 cup candied cherries
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup brandy or rum

Instructions

  1. Combine dates, raisins, currants, walnuts, almonds, candied orange peel, and candied cherries in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, and salt. Add to fruit and nut mixture and mix well.
  3. Stir in eggs and brandy or rum until well combined. Spoon mixture into a well-greased 9×13 inch baking dish and bake at 300°F for 1 hour or until lightly browned. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
