Bolognese Ragout Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 500 g beef mince
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 500 g spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, to serve

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened and translucent, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add beef mince and cook until browned, breaking up any lumps with a wooden spoon.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cook spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, according to package instructions.
  7. Drain spaghetti and add it to the pan with the ragout.
  8. Toss well to combine, and serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
