Cakounet Recipe by Philippe Conticini

Ingredients:

  • 280g dark chocolate (minimum 66% cocoa)
  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 240g sugar
  • 5 eggs (medium size)
  • 80g flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • Cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt chocolate and butter together in a bain-marie.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk sugar and eggs together until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy.
  4. Sieve flour and salt together, and add to the sugar and egg mixture. Stir until just combined.
  5. Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the sugar, egg, flour mix and stir until fully combined.
  6. Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured cake tin.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and leave to cool completely before removing from tin.
  9. Serve with a dusting of cocoa powder.
