Caramel Fondue Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Begin by placing the sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir constantly with a whisk until the sugar melts and lumps form, then gradually continue to add in the rest of the sugar until it is all melted.
- Once the sugar is melted, let it cook until it turns a rich amber color, stirring occasionally. This will take approximately 5 minutes.
- Add in the butter and whisk until it’s melted, then slowly pour in the cream while whisking constantly. The mixture will bubble up quite a bit, so be careful!
- Once the cream is fully combined, add in the salt and vanilla extract and stir until it’s well mixed, then remove from heat.
- Transfer the caramel to a fondue pot and serve immediately with sliced fruit and pound cake.
Verdict:
This caramel fondue is a rich and decadent treat that is perfect for parties or a romantic dessert. The creamy, smooth caramel pairs perfectly with fresh fruit and pound cake for dipping.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve with sliced fruit (such as strawberries, bananas, and apples) and cubed pound cake for dipping. You could also try dipping pretzels or marshmallows for a fun twist. Make sure to use a fondue pot to keep the caramel warm and liquid for dipping. Enjoy!
