Chelsea Bun – Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g strong white flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 50g caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 150ml warm milk
- 50g unsalted butter
- 100g raisins
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 50g brown sugar
Instructions:
- Mix the flour, salt, yeast, and caster sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the center.
- Add the egg and warm milk, and mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a flour-dusted surface for 10 minutes till it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a bowl, cover and leave it to rise for an hour till it has doubled in size.
- Melt the butter, and combine it with raisins, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, about 30cm x 40cm in size.
- Spread the butter and raisin mixture evenly over the rectangle.
- Roll the dough tightly from the longest edge, then cut it into 12 slices, about 2.5cm each.
- Place each slice into a greased baking dish, and leave it to rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas 4. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown.
- Cover the buns with a damp towel and let them cool.
