Decadent Chocolate Cake: Gourmet Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 10 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉ (175℃). Butter two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper. Dust the pans with flour, tapping out the excess.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually whisk in the cooled coffee.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove cakes from the oven and cool for 10 minutes in the pans before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a heatproof bowl, combine chopped chocolate and heavy cream.
  8. Place the bowl over a pot of gently simmering water and stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in the corn syrup and vanilla extract. Let it cool and thicken slightly.
  10. Place one cake layer on a cake stand and spread a layer of the chocolate ganache on top. Place the other cake layer on top and spread the remaining ganache over the top and sides of the cake.
  11. Let the cake cool until the ganache has set. Serve and enjoy!
