Chocolate-filled biscuits, Prince style
Gourmet recipe
- Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 heavy cream
- Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add cold butter pieces and using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse sand.
- In a small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add to flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough 1/4 inch thickness and cut out round shapes with a biscuit cutter.
- Place half of the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and spoon a dollop of chocolate onto the center. Cover with the remaining biscuits and press lightly to seal.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until biscuit is firm. Let it cool.
- Melt chocolate chips and heavy cream in a large bowl in the microwave on medium speed for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir frequently until fully combined. Drizzle biscuits with melted chocolate mixture.
- Serving suggestions:
- These chocolate-filled biscuits are best served warm with a glass of cold milk.
- You can also serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with hot fudge sauce for a decadent dessert.
- Store any leftover biscuits in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
