Chocolate Flan Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of sugar over medium-high heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the sugar turns into a caramel. This should take about 6-8 minutes. Be careful not to burn the caramel.
- Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round cake pan, tilting it to coat the bottom and sides evenly. Set aside for now.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy and light yellow.
- Add the remaining sugar, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips. Mix them well until the chocolate chips are melted and the batter becomes smooth.
- Pour the batter over the caramel-coated cake pan.
- Place the cake pan in a large roasting pan and pour enough hot water into the roasting pan to reach halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of the flan comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature.
- Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the flan to loosen it, then invert it onto a large plate. The caramel will drizzle down the sides of the flan.
Verdict: This chocolate flan is a rich, creamy, and decadent dessert that will satisfy any sweet tooth. The chocolate chips add a delicious twist to the classic flan recipe, making it even more irresistible.
Serving suggestions: Top with fresh berries or whipped cream for an extra touch of sweetness. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
