Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 6 egg yolks

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream, milk, sugar, vanilla bean and salt. Simmer until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot.
  2. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and chopped dark chocolate. Stir until mixture is smooth and dark.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks. Slowly add in the chocolate mixture, while whisking constantly, until the egg yolks are fully combined.
  4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back spoon.
  5. Pour mixture into a blender and blend until completely smooth. Let it cool at room temperature and then refrigerate for 1 hour.
  6. Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and churn until thick and creamy.
  7. Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze until firm, for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
