Chocolate Magic Cake – Treat

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups hot water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add vegetable oil and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  4. Gradually add hot water to the mixture, stirring constantly until batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into an 8-inch square baking pan.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together 3/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  7. Pour 1 1/4 cups of hot water over the top of the batter and cocoa sugar mixture. DO NOT STIR.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is set. Be sure not to overbake as it will affect the texture.
  9. Allow cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
