Churros: Easy Homemade Recipe (2 steps – 20 min)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- vegetable oil (for frying)
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Add flour to the saucepan and stir vigorously until a thick dough forms, about 2-3 minutes.
- Take the saucepan off the heat and let the dough cool for 2-3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon together and set aside.
- In a large frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Scoop dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle. Pipe long strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cut them with scissors and fry, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove churros from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate for a minute.
- While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture until coated.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Verdict: This churros recipe is not only quick and easy to make, but also delicious and crispy. The combination of sugar and cinnamon gives these Spanish fritters a sweet and spicy flavor that is perfect for any occasion. Serve them with a chocolate dipping sauce or caramel sauce for a decadent treat.
