Clafoutis with Cherries: Traditional Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups pitted cherries
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish with butter and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, flour, sugar, vanilla extract and salt until the batter is smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish. Scatter the cherries on top of the batter and gently press them slightly to submerge them halfway into the batter.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the clafoutis is puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
