Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  5. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the prepared cake pan.
  6. Set the cake pan in a large roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the flan is set (it should jiggle slightly in the middle when shaken).
  8. Carefully remove the cake pan from the roasting pan and let cool to room temperature on a wire rack.
  9. Cover the cake pan with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  10. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Place a serving platter upside down on top of the cake pan and invert the flan onto the platter. The caramel sauce will now be on the top.
