Coffee Flan: Gourmet Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until it melts and turns deep amber in color.
- Immediately pour the melted sugar into a 9-inch round cake pan, tilting the pan to coat the bottom and sides evenly. Set the pan aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, remaining 1 cup of sugar, heavy cream, milk, coffee, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the prepared cake pan.
- Set the cake pan in a large roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the flan is set (it should jiggle slightly in the middle when shaken).
- Carefully remove the cake pan from the roasting pan and let cool to room temperature on a wire rack.
- Cover the cake pan with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Place a serving platter upside down on top of the cake pan and invert the flan onto the platter. The caramel sauce will now be on the top.
Verdict:
This coffee flan is a decadent and delicious dessert for coffee lovers. The rich and creamy custard is perfectly balanced with the bitter notes of coffee, and the caramel sauce adds a beautiful sweetness and texture. This gourmet recipe is sure to impress your guests and leave them wanting more.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the coffee flan chilled with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It pairs well with a cup of rich, black coffee or a sweet dessert wine such as port or sherry. Enjoy!
