Crispy Sardine Rolls with Cream Cheese

A delicious appetizer that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of sardines
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup of green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10-12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sardines (with bones and skin removed), cream cheese, green onions, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one of the corners pointing towards you.
  3. Add about a tablespoon of the sardine mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
  4. Take the corner closest to you and fold it over the mixture.
  5. Roll the wrapper up halfway, then fold in the sides.
  6. Brush the remaining corner with the beaten egg and roll up the rest of the way to seal.
  7. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  8. In a frying pan, heat enough oil to cover the rolls over medium-high heat.
  9. Add a few rolls at a time and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  11. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
