Crispy Tart Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3 tablespoons of ice water
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Add the butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the ice water and mix until the dough comes together. Press the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375F. Roll the dough out onto a floured surface until it’s about 1/8 inch thick. Press the dough into a tart dish and trim the excess dough.
  4. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and brush with the beaten egg white. Bake for 10 minutes.
  5. In a skillet, heat the olive oil and add the onions. Cook for 5 minutes. Add the bell peppers and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Spoon the vegetable mixture into the baked crust. Sprinkle the parmesan and cheddar cheese over the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before serving.
