Donuts – Delight

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by sifting together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Using a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters (one large and one small), cut out the donuts and donut holes.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
  7. Carefully add the donuts to the oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pot, and fry until they are golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove the donuts from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  9. If desired, dust the donuts with powdered sugar.
