Dried strawberries – Treat

Dried Strawberries – Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Wash the strawberries well and remove the stems. Cut the strawberries in slices at an even thickness of about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm).
  3. Place the strawberry slices in a bowl and sprinkle the granulated sugar over them. Mix well to ensure every slice is coated with sugar evenly.
  4. Let the strawberries rest at room temperature for 30 minutes or so until the sugar starts to dissolve and strawberries release their juices.
  5. Place the strawberries in a single layer on a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Make sure the slices don’t touch each other.
  6. Bake the strawberries in the oven for about 3-4 hours, flipping them every 30 minutes to ensure even drying. The strawberries should be slightly sticky and pliable, but not too moist or wet.
  7. Once done, transfer the baking sheet to a wire rack and let the strawberries cool completely. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the dried strawberries as a tasty snack any time of the day, or use them as a topping for oatmeal, granola, yogurt, or ice cream. They also make a great addition to homemade trail mix or gift to friends and family.
