Easy Chouquettes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the water, butter, and salt over medium heat until the butter has melted.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and immediately remove it from the heat.
- Add the flour to the pan all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
- Stir in the sugar and mini chocolate chips (if using).
- Scoop the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip.
- Pipe the dough into small mounds about the size of a cherry onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each one.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
- Transfer the chouquettes to a wire rack to cool for a few minutes before serving.
These easy chouquettes are a perfect teatime snack or party treat. Their simple yet delicious flavor pairs well with coffee or tea. They can also be served in place of traditional doughnuts or pastries for breakfast.
