Eggnog Recipe: Gourmet Style

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup bourbon or rum (optional)
  • Whipped cream and extra nutmeg for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until combined.
  2. Add milk, heavy cream, nutmeg and vanilla extract. Mix well and continue whisking until the mixture is heated through and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Do not boil.
  3. If including bourbon or rum, stir it into the mixture. Chill the eggnog for approximately 1-2 hours or until it becomes fully cooled. Serve cold and garnish with whipped cream and extra nutmeg, if desired.

Verdict

This eggnog recipe will knock your socks off. It’s creamy, mildly spiced and will have you screaming for more. Adding bourbon or rum will heighten the flavors, but it’s optional. Serve it cold with whipped cream, extra nutmeg and some friends to enjoy with!
