Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

  • 2 cups fresh figs, stemmed and sliced into quarters

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and butter. Using a pastry blender or your hands, cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Slowly add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until dough comes together in a ball. Flatten the dough into a disk and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a circle. Transfer to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom and press the dough into the bottom and sides of the pan. Trim excess dough from the edges. In a separate mixing bowl, combine figs, honey, butter, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt. Mix until the figs are well coated. Pour the fig mixture into the tart shell. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Allow the tart to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
