Gougères Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 stick unsalted butter (4 ounces)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup freshly grated Gruyère cheese (about 4 ounces)
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the saucepan.

- Spoon the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a 1/2-inch plain tip, or use a tablespoon to drop the dough in mounds onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
