Grand-Marnier Soufflé Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus additional for greasing the ramekins
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup Grand-Marnier liqueur
- 6 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease six 8-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with sugar.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk and continue to whisk until the mixture thickens, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool for a few minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until pale and thick. Gradually whisk in the Grand-Marnier liqueur. Add the cooled milk mixture and whisk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until frothy. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg whites into the Grand-Marnier mixture, being careful not to overmix.
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared ramekins, filling them up to 3/4 full. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
- Bake the soufflés until they are puffed and golden brown on top, about 18 to 20 minutes. Dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve immediately.
Serving suggestions:
Serve the Grand-Marnier soufflés immediately with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. They are best enjoyed warm, straight out of the oven.
