Grilled octopus: barbecue recipe

Grilled Octopus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 large octopus (about 3-4 lb)
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

  1. Thoroughly clean the octopus under cold running water and remove the beak from the center of the tentacles.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the whole octopus for 3-4 minutes. Drain and let it cool.
  3. Make the marinade by combining lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, salt, black pepper and parsley in a container large enough to accommodate the octopus.
  4. Add the blanched octopus to the marinade and make sure it is completely coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
  5. Preheat the barbecue or grill to medium-high heat. Remove the octopus from the marinade and discard any excess marinade.
  6. Grill the octopus for 3-4 minutes per side, until crispy and slightly charred. Use tongs to flip the octopus and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Transfer the grilled octopus to a serving plate and drizzle with extra olive oil. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges, if desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Verdict:

Grilled octopus is a delicious seafood dish that is perfect for barbecue parties or any occasion. The marinade gives the octopus a burst of flavor that complements the smoky charred taste from the grill. The texture is slightly chewy, but not tough, and the meat is tender and succulent. This recipe is a must-try for all seafood lovers.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the grilled octopus with a side of fresh salad, roasted potatoes, or grilled vegetables. You can also pair it with a glass of white wine or a cold beer to complete the meal.
