Homemade Neapolitan Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups Fresh strawberries, hulled and finely chopped
  • Red food coloring

Instructions:

  1. In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  2. Stirring occasionally, heat for 5-7 minutes until sugar has dissolved and mixture is smooth.
  3. Take off the heat when finished and cool completely.
  4. In a separate heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
  5. Stirring occasionally, heat the mixture until the sugar has dissolved and the cocoa is well blended (3-5 min).
  6. Cool completely after removing from heat.
  7. In a blender combine finely chopped strawberries and 1/4 cup of sugar. Mix until the consistency is smooth.
  8. Add red food coloring to your desired color.
  9. Combine each mixture into 3 separate shallow containers. Cover each of these with foil and freeze for an hour.
  10. After freezing, transfer the vanilla part to the bottom of an airtight container. Then, add the strawberry layer then the chocolate layer above it.
  11. Freeze for a few hours or till wholly frozen.
  12. Scoop and serve in small portions
