Homemade Neapolitan Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 cup Whole milk
- ¾ cup Granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups Fresh strawberries, hulled and finely chopped
- Red food coloring
Instructions:
- In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Stirring occasionally, heat for 5-7 minutes until sugar has dissolved and mixture is smooth.
- Take off the heat when finished and cool completely.
- In a separate heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
- Stirring occasionally, heat the mixture until the sugar has dissolved and the cocoa is well blended (3-5 min).
- Cool completely after removing from heat.
- In a blender combine finely chopped strawberries and 1/4 cup of sugar. Mix until the consistency is smooth.
- Add red food coloring to your desired color.
- Combine each mixture into 3 separate shallow containers. Cover each of these with foil and freeze for an hour.
- After freezing, transfer the vanilla part to the bottom of an airtight container. Then, add the strawberry layer then the chocolate layer above it.
- Freeze for a few hours or till wholly frozen.
- Scoop and serve in small portions
