Indian-style White Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 head of white cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and green chilies.
  2. When the seeds start to crackle, add onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add turmeric, coriander powder, and garam masala and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add shredded cabbage and salt to the pan and mix well.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of water, cover the pan with a lid and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the cabbage turns soft and tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, rice or bread.
