Kanelbullar Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 250ml milk
  • 60g granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 100g butter, melted
  • For the filling:
  • 100g butter, softened
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour and instant yeast.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat up milk until it’s lukewarm. Add sugar, salt, egg and melted butter. Mix well and then pour it into the flour mixture. Knead thoroughly until the dough is smooth and doesn’t stick to the edges of the bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan. Grease a baking sheet with butter or line with parchment paper.
  5. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle shape, approximately 40×50 cm.
  6. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving about 1-2 cm at the top edge of the rectangle.
  7. Starting from the long edge closest to you, roll the dough up tightly and pinch the edges to seal it.
  8. Cut the dough roll into 15-20 pieces and place them on the baking sheet, cut side up. Cover it with a clean towel and let it rest for another 10 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool before serving.
