Kouglof Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1 tbsp rum (optional)
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add warm milk, butter, and eggs. Mix on low until everything is combined.
- Switch to a kneading attachment and knead for 10-12 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rest for an hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Add raisins, almonds, and rum to the dough. Mix well.
- Grease a kouglof mold with butter and sprinkle flour. Set aside.
- Transfer the dough to the mold and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before removing from the mold.
- Dust powdered sugar on top of the kouglof before serving.
