Meringue Hedgehog Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Mini chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean and dry mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.
- Next, gradually add the sugar to the egg whites while continuing to beat on high speed until stiff peaks form and the meringue becomes shiny and white.

- Bake the meringue hedgehog for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until the outside is dry and crisp to the touch but the interior is still soft and marshmallow-like.
- Allow the meringue to cool completely on the baking sheet before carefully transferring it to a serving platter or cake stand.
